Reread the article "Coping with Conflict" and download and read the article "Teen Smoking Court."
For the article "Teen Smoking Court," answer Writer's Response Questions #1-#5.
Just like you often do, adult writers also use graphic organizers to plan their writing. I am certain most of you are familiar with at least one or two of these. These organizers include:
Venn diagrams
cause and effect charts
Harvard Outlines
problem/solution charts
sequence chains or flow charts
reader's response journals (double entry journals)
Which of these organizers do you think the authors of the two articles you just read would have used? why?
Choose one of the articles and one of the organizers and try to fill out the organizer like you think the author of the article might have.
Think about the research topic you have chosen. What graphic organizer will work best for your research?
Use the internet or our classroom library to find two more sources for your topic. Then begin filling out an organizer using this new information. Don't forget to add your new sources to your bibliography!
